Thought of the day

Time

When time starts to sing against you, everyone else will start clapping and playing music with it.

You are your best friend. Learn to love yourself.

Inspired by…

Clusters of stars, a night sky;
From the yard, a bird makes a fly.
Howling wind, in the night;
Flapping wing, to reach the white.

Blind at night, the human eye;
Aflame and agog, to rise high.
Tries so hard, to leave the ground;
Sometime may lead, a bang sound.

Rain comes, as the roar of fright;
Fledgling bird, towards the light.
Refuse the ceasefire, to the Mother Nature;
A usual bird, rejects the failure.

Scared sounds, of the stormy night;
Though, denies to vanish in quite.
Prosper up, in a certain pace;
Learning from problem, how to face?

Impressed by the effort, the fowl makes;
Fall the star(white), the mother makes.
With the kit, he gathers;
Reach the height, thought of ever.

It’s the grace, of the fate;
Or the steps, that you take.
It’s your own future,
What you make.

For the first, if you fail;
Avoid depart, instead sail.
From the centre, try to reach;
Rowing the boat, up to the beach.

To fly high, as a bird in the sky;
With the attempt, belief in thy.
At this moment, let’s all pray;
A good start, at this divine day.

Autonomous vehicle during the pandemic

Source: pixabay.com

An autonomous vehicle is a vehicle capable of sensing its environment and moving safely, ideally, with no human input. A Level 5 autonomous vehicle as defined by SAE does not require human intervention at all. The vehicle is capable of handling all the situations related to driving, in other words, a robotic taxi, that works on all roads, all over the world, all year round and in all weather conditions.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus, which spreads primarily through contact with an infected person when they cough or sneeze. It also spreads when a person touches a surface or object that has virus on it, then touches their eyes, nose or mouth. More than half of the world is on lockdown because of this disease. More than half of the world’s population are imposed to stay at home right now as a part of an effort to stop the virus from spreading.

I see the potential benefit of the autonomous vehicle (if there have been already one in use as a mode of public transport) in the current scenario. Although, everyone is instructed to stay inside their house there are various reasons because of which there is a compulsion for one to go out. People employed in system-critical areas (utility providers like electricity, drinking water supplier, grocery shops, pharmacies, etc) need to travel to work in order to ensure that things are normal, people can comfortably work from home or life. Health professionals have increased responsibility and are more sought-after during this situation. The supply of goods, foods, and medicines must be kept intact. There should be proper and timely of patients to the hospitals during this situation. And the list can go on….

Public transport like bus, train, metro is the main mode of transportation especially for the people living in urban areas. During pandemics like these traveling using public transport not only increases the risk of getting exposed to the virus but also increases the possibility to spread the virus when one is in the incubation period of the disease.

Therefore, in the current scenario, if there were already autonomous vehicles, enough to transport the personnel working primarily on system-critical areas, it would have been a wonderful option for a commute. I personally see a lot of benefits of a fully autonomous vehicle in situations like this.

A driverless car can be used by one person/family which will help people to avoid contact. The autonomous vehicle unlike a taxi, driven by a driver, can be equipped with self-disinfection technology to sanitize itself in pandemics like this, whereas in a taxi, as of today, the driver himself/herself act as a carrier of the virus. Such an autonomous vehicle can take some time (10-15 minutes) to sterilize itself before being available to other passengers, therefore, preventing the transfer of virus through public transport.

There are other benefits and, also the limitations of an autonomous vehicle but its use during pandemics like this is a potential use case.

A meet..

(…..it was raining outside) beautiful song played on his phone “We Could Have Had It All…(by Adele)”. It was Call from an unknown number. Actually, she had called from her second number. He always wished to meet and for so long. Early morning, it was a felicitous call first of its kind to accept the request. There was a big jaunty smile on his face. Unbelievable, for him. He nearly dropped his cell phone. He was like what?? He tried to reconfirm by sending her a message at Facebook, the only regular communication medium between. But there already was a message dropped for him. Which confirmed the meet. He was on cloud nine. It’s surprising to doubt one’s lover voice. How could he not recognize her voice? They never had a talk, that’s deep-rooted, this personal. It was a first direct conversation besides asking for notes and borrowing a pen in front of everyone.
He took a bath and took 2 hours to be ready. It took 15 minutes to comb his hair and 15 more minutes to put on different layers of makeup (adding and removing creams :), tried his also some of his sister’s ones). The rain had stopped by now. He rode his bike through the muddy country road as in Dirtbike racing. His vision was blurred as a foggy winter morning. It’s not the weather but was his fascination about meeting with her that blurred his vision. He visualized past and future as if he had his Google glass on and was scrolling back and forth through his timeline to past and future. Finally, after years it was like a dream come true… He didn’t care about light showers that tried to wash his makeup, just kept driving his way towards his dream. He reached the spot parked the bike. Hold rose with his right hand….. The same song played on my phone and I woke up at my hostel apartment. I wished the dream to be completed but couldn’t help out. I had a long day ahead. So after morning chores went to university leaving both of them a few minutes of sleep apart.

“Fasching” in Munich

Video: Fasching in Munich 2018

Fasching is Munich’s version of Carnival. Fasching is celebrated mainly in the Catholic parts of Germany. It has different names in different areas, for example, Karneval, Fastnacht or Fastnet. Fasching is only the name used in and around Munich.

“Fasching” comes from the medieval word “vaschnc”, in present-day German “Fastnacht” and relates to the fasting period, which begins immediately after Fasching. On Fasching Sunday there is ‘München Narrisch’, or Mad Munich, where thousands hit the streets to party dress up in masks and weird costumes. Munich’s Fasching has its origins in dancing and pageantry and the tradition is continued to the date with celebrations such as parades and costume balls.
